And quick as a flash, I'm a DANCE MOM!!
I always secretly hoped I would be the mother of a little girl one day. When I was pregnant I of course truly only wanted a healthy little baby. But finding out I was expecting a girl allowed me to drift off in dreams of glitter, pastels, and tulle. And the combination of all of these wonderful things: BALLET!
When I heard that ballet was offered at Maddie's nursery I signed up immediately. And to help with the preparation, we started reading Angelina Ballerina each day! Given how excited she was about getting dressed for ballet I thought Maddie was going to fall in love with ballet instantly.
However, because it was held at her nursery, she was very confused why we were going to nursery on a non-nursery day and why her beloved teacher wouldn't be a ballerina with her. But once we got that little glitch straightened out, she's taken to ballet like a duck to water. Or should I say, like a swan to a lake!!
We've been so lucky to have been welcomed into the sweetest little group in our community. These cherubs (and their mama's) have taken Maddie (and I) under their wings and Maddie absolutely adores each of them. The girls are all at the same nursery and on Sundays, they each pull on their leotards, ruffle their tutu's, pull their hair back in neat ponytails and swan around an imaginary lake.
It is the cutest thing I do believe I have ever seen.
Now we prance around pointing our toes, arabesquing on scooters, practicing pirouette's and plie-ing like we all live in Chipping Cheddar with Angelina Ballerina.
I never did any form of dance (and if you've ever seen me try to dance, you'd know this is no joke!) and so I have a lot to learn about the world of dance, but I will say, so far I LOVE IT! I hope Maddie continues to have fun because I really love watching these little girls pointing their toes, teaching me how to leap (have you ever seen a two year old "leap" it really isn't as graceful as it sounds) and just being ridiculously cute!
Did you do ballet as a child? Was your mum a "stage mum"? I'm hoping to curtail my excitement eventually, but for now, it just makes me so happy to see Maddie this happy.
Wishing you a bright and bubbly weekend!
