I am lucky. I have a place I can go that eases my stress. A place that has the power to make my cheeks hurt from perpetually smiling. A place who's natural beauty can never be matched for me, no matter how far and wide I explore in this world. It is a place where I relax. A place that I feel calm. The place that I am truly me in. The one place in the world that feels like home. Byron Bay.
Byron bay isn't exactly a hidden secret though, it has been a bustling and much loved holiday spot for years and years. It is where my Gran grew up and spent her entire life and where we spent much of our childhood holidays. From a somewhat charmed locale, on Lighthouse Road, overlooking The Bay.
After my Gran passed away I wasnt sure if Byron would be able to hold its place in my heart, but Pete firmly concreted that position by proposing to me at my favourite spot by the lighthouse six years ago. There was no doubting it, Byron Bay would forever be our special place.
When we were coming up with our plans for this recent trip back to Australia, every plan was made around the firm understanding that we would have a few days back in Byron. And we did so with Pete's sister, and from an incredible house which was just 3 doors down from my Grans old house, which meant I got to live our view again. The exact same view.
Here is the glorious view that I grew up with and got the chance to relive in luxury last month!!!
I have an entire post lined up about eating my happy way around The Bay, so I'll save most of my food photos for that one, but I wanted to share the stunning beauty that is my Happy Place.
For four days, we smiled, Maddie played with her littlest cousins and we ate some ridiculously good food.
And we started to celebrate and embrace this new pregnancy.
If you ever get the chance and haven't already been, add Byron Bay to your bucket list and maybe ask me to come and show you around!!! You too will have smiles like these...
